باب: حدیث پڑھنے اور محدث کے سامنے پیش کرنے (پڑھنے) کا بیان 

حسن بصری اور سفیان ثوری اور امام مالک نے (بھی خود) پڑھ لینا کافی سمجھا ہے اور بعض محدثین نے عالم کے سامنے قرأت (کے کافی ہونے) میں ضمام بن ثعلبہ کی حدیث سے استدلال کیا ہے، انہوں نے نبی ﷺ سے عرض کیا تھا کہ اللہ نے آپ کو حکم دیا ہے کہ ہم نماز پڑھیں ؟ آپ نے فرمایا ہاں۔ پس وہ محدثین کہتے ہیں کہ (ضمام بن ثعلبہ کا) یہ قول نبی ﷺ کے سامنے پڑھنا ہے (اور) ضمام نے اپنی قوم کو اس کی اطلاع کی اور قوم کے لوگوں نے اس کو کافی سمجھا اور (امام) مالک نے صک سے استدلال کیا ہے کہ وہ لوگوں کے سامنے سنایا اور معلم کے سامنے کتاب پڑھی جاتی ہے تو حاضرین کہتے ہیں کہ ہم فلاں شخص نے سنایا اور معلم کے سامنے کتاب پڑھی جاتی ہے تو پڑھنے والا کہتا ہے کہ مجھے فلاں شخص نے پڑھایا

Chapter: Narration of reciting hadith and presenting (reciting) it to the muhaddith 

Statement of reciting the hadith and presenting it in front of the muhaddith and Hasan Basri and Sufyan Thawri and Imam Malik have considered it sufficient to recite it (even by themselves) and some muhaddithin have added zamam bin in reciting it before the scholar. What is the reasoning from the hadith of Thaalba, who said to the Prophet, peace be upon him, that Allah has commanded you to pray? You said yes. So those Muhadditheen say that this saying (of Zammam bin Thaalbah) is to be recited before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (and) Zammam reported it to his people and the people of the nation considered it sufficient and (Imam) Malik reasoned from the Saqqah. What is it that it is recited in front of the people and the book is read in front of the teacher, then the audience says that we were told by such and such a person and the book is read in front of the teacher, then the reader says that I was taught by such and such a person

حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ مِنَ الشَّجَرِ شَجَرَةً لَا يَسْقُطُ وَرَقُهَا وَإِنَّهَا مَثَلُ الْمُسْلِمِ ، حَدِّثُونِي مَا هِيَ ؟ قَالَ : فَوَقَعَ النَّاسُ فِي شَجَرِ الْبَوَادِي ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : فَوَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِي أَنَّهَا النَّخْلَةُ فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ ، ثُمَّ قَالُوا : حَدِّثْنَا مَا هِيَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ

نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہ ( ایک مرتبہ ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا درختوں میں سے ایک درخت ایسا ہے کہ اس کے پتے نہیں جھڑتے اور مسلمان کی بھی یہی مثال ہے بتلاؤ وہ کون سا درخت ہے؟ یہ سن کر لوگوں کے خیالات جنگل کے درختوں میں چلے گئے۔ عبداللہ نے کہا کہ میرے دل میں آیا کہ بتلا دوں کہ وہ کھجور کا درخت ہے لیکن  وہاں بہت سے بزرگ موجود تھے اس لیے مجھ کو شرم آئی۔ آخر صحابہ نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! آپ ہی بیان فرما دیجیئے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بتلایا کہ وہ کھجور کا درخت ہے۔

Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet said, Amongst the trees, there is a tree, the leaves of which do not fall and is like a Muslim. Tell me the name of that tree. Everybody started thinking about the trees of the desert areas. And I thought of the date-palm tree. The others then asked, Please inform us what is that tree, O Allah’s Apostle? He replied, It is the date-palm tree.
